Description

This book is stoicism in plain English.

We run into adversity and obstacles all the time. Now we don’t need to let our emotions rule the day, learn how to see the opportunities life puts in front of us.

“Our Obstacles on our path become the path. Remember, adversity and obstacles become opportunities. It’s our decision.”

    Jennifer L – February 5, 2020

This is an intelligent self-help book packed full of examples from history about people who made it through their own adversity. The book offers a system for approaching life by turning obstacles into advantages and using relentless persistence to achieve their goals.

We all face obstacles in our lives, what matters is how we perceive and work with them to move forward. “When we aim high, pressure and stress obligingly come along for the ride,” so we have to find ways of dealing with them.

The author, Ryan Holiday uses Stoic philosophy as a basis for the book, but it’s not dry. He modern examples from people in our history make the words from thousands of years ago come alive. As someone who studied Greek and Latin at school, I appreciated the 21st century take on the subject.

Through perceptions, actions, and will, we can achieve anything by working with obstacles.
